Beer in the evening

Visited recently and thought it was fantastic especially since my last visit a year ago, increased the amount of real ales and I tried 3 of them (Great) been back and tried the food because I'd heard so much about it and it was as good as the beer if not better.

Really great local old style pub! They have a really extensive bar menu and also an al a carte restaurant with waitress service. I think pretty much all of the locals go here at the weekends as it can be very busy! It has a lovely atmosphere with good staff and friendly service. They have a good head chef who does specials as well as the normal menu, and they also do a pub quiz on a Sunday. Good all round village pub

I would highly recommend this pub. Great atmosphere for all, super food and even better ales and choices of lagers. The staff and friendly and courteous. It even met my wife's standards which says a lot! I think it was a very good take over from what was.

Dining Pubs

The Famous Green Man at Ewell has now reopened in 2005 as a dining pub after an extensive refurbishment. The chef's are always looking for feed back albeit good or bad. Good selection of wines. Typical mains meals might include:- Welsh Barnsley double chop with mint salsa verde £10.95, Cajun dusted swordfish with avocado & mango salsa £10.95, 10 oz Scotch rump, field mushroom, watercress & a choice of 3 butters (coriander & chilli, garlic & herb, Roquefort & chive) £8.95 and Gammon steak with free range eggs & grilled pineapple £7.95

Carling Beerfinder

A 3 bar venue with restaurant, the bars seem to attract a good clientele, not a teenagers bar, Sky sports shown though out with Setanta all major matches, good selection of lagers and 5 real ales on all the time, bar food served from mid-day to approx 4pm mon-sat. Good restaurant serving food from mid-day till 9.30pm although it closes between 4 and 6 mon-fri all the food is prepared fresh and a good wine list available. Great pub for destination or just a complete evening out.

"This pub has seen a dramatic turnaround in recent years. It is now smart, clean and vibrant, and consequently, has grown in popularity. Build around 1934 to replace a previous 1890s building, it has three interconnecting rooms served by a central bar, with a separate dining area at the rear. Two guest beers come from a variety of brewers."
